Embracing Hump Day: Designing a Life Where Every Day is the Best Day

Sedona National Park, on a Wednesday, March 2024
Welcome to the middle of the week! It’s Hump Day—a day often celebrated as the turning point toward the weekend. But let’s take a moment to pause and reflect. Instead of merely counting down the days to Fridays and weekends, what if we could design a life that makes every day worthy of celebrating?
Let’s be real. That familiar feeling of dread often creeps in when Sunday night rolls around. You know the feeling: your stomach drops as if you've just missed a step in the dark. The weekend is officially over, and your body senses it. That knot in your stomach twists tighter with every breath, as your phone buzzes with a work email preview, making your heart stop for just a moment. You brace yourself for the fluorescent lights, the Monday morning meetings, and the reality of 40+ hours in a space where you pretend to care about things that don’t matter. Your shoulders tense up in anticipation of battles you haven’t even fought yet.
I once lived this exact cycle for years. Those "Sunday Scaries" were all too real for me—I would feel physically nauseous at the thought of heading back to the office. However, I soon realized that I wasn’t just dreading Sundays; I was dreading the life I was living from Monday to Friday. I was living for that one glorious day—Saturday.
The epiphany came when I decided to embrace entrepreneurship, after the health system I worked for merged with a larger system, I decided that creating a business that was built with ease and alignment in mind was the best for my future. That’s when I recognized that Sunday Scaries aren’t about Sunday at all; they’re about the life you’re living throughout the week. Imagine the freedom of making money while you sleep instead of trading hours for dollars. Suddenly, Sunday transforms into just another day, a delightful prelude to a Monday that you're actually excited about.
I've been free from Sunday Scaries for more than two years, post merger of my healthcare system. When you cultivate a week you love, every Sunday just becomes the day before another Monday you eagerly anticipate.
The truth is, the solution isn’t finding the right meditation apps or practicing positive thinking. It’s about building a life that doesn’t require you to dread 71% of your week. If you want to begin loving every single day of the week, instead of losing sleep over returning to a place you dread, it’s time to take action.
As a life and business coach, my mission is to help you design your dream life—one where every day feels like a celebration. Together, we can identify what truly matters to you, illuminate your passions, and carve out a path that brings joy and fulfillment into each day.
So, as we celebrate Hump Day today, I invite you to reflect on how you spend your time. Ask yourself: How can I start making everyday the best day? How can I dismantle the dread of the workweek and build something that excites me?
Let’s embark on this transformative journey together. It’s time to reclaim your joy and create a life where every day is worthy of celebration.
